| Day 01: Cochin - Munnar |
|
Arrival at Cochin Railway station/Airport and transfer to Munnar. Munnar is the most famous hill destination of Kerala. The drive to Munnar offers a lot of good views of the valleys and tea plantations, and therefore not boring. Munnar is the place in the highlands of the Nilgiri Hills. This place is an important center of the Indian tea industry. The small town is surrounded by extensive plantations near the Anaimudi, the highest Indian mountain (2600 meters) south of the Himalaya mountain range. Munnar is situated 1524 m above sea level in the Idukki district of Kerala and is one of the highest tea plantations in the world. The landscape is very beautiful. Munnar is also locally known as the queen of the mountains of Kerala, this place is located at the confluence of three mountain streams, namely Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala.On arrival check in to the hotel. After breakfast proceed to sight seeing. The attractions in Munnar are Anaimudi, Rajmalai, Eravikulam National Park and Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary (Wildlife Reserve), Anamaudi summit is the highest peak in South India, the towers at an altitude of about 2695 m. The Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary is home to some of the rare species, when it comes to flora and fauna. Half of the total population of the Nilgiri Tahr is in Rajamalai. The places like Pothamedu, Lokheart Gap and Devikulam offer various adventure sports, trekking, trout and picnic facilities.In Attukal, Nayamakkad Chithrapuram and enjoy the cascading waterfall and the seductive charm of the plantations.
