A trip to the Sree Mookambika Temple in Kollur is almost every year for our family espcially with ITP. We experience a kind of bliss for the prayers there. Both our childrens vidyarambha was done at the temple. The temple is located at a small village called Kollur on the slopes of the Western Ghats and the river flows Souparnika the temple with its fresh, clean waters. The temple is well maintained. The accomodation offered by you near the temple is a well-maintained accommodation. There are many hotels in the area and the meal experience presented coffee shop is really good place to have breakfast, lunch and dinner.
One can have a look at the Western Ghat Hills foot from here, and if you can afford a day can also be a visit to the nearby Kudajadri Hills, where the original Mookambika temple was built. It is reported that Sri Sankaracharya brought the deity to Kollur later, so that devotees can darshan here. There are different types of facilities in the temple. The laddu prasadam is very famous.
Click on the guard against pickpockets on, especially during the peak of the temple visit on holidays and weekends where there is rush of people.
You can reach Kollur from the nearest railway station on the Konkan railway – between a miracle and have port city. Of Baindoor there are taxis at the station, and from there the Mookambika temple but the cost is usually high and it is better to book your tour before your arrival. Baindoor or Mookambika Road is a very small station, there is a small waiting room and there are no restaurants, cafeteria, etc. Only three four trains stop here. Check to see if your train stop here before you book your ticket.
Kollur is a nice place to visit during the monsoon season, expect frequent rains during the monsoon season, so an umbrella when you stop here during the monsoon often. Climate is moderate and there is no need for special clothes. For travel within the temple, men have to remove your T-shirts, so better keep a large towel ready to cover your body.
A very nice experience in the temple and its surroundings, far away from the romp of a city. Mookambika also has a wildlife sanctuary and drive through part of the reserve forests on your journey of Byndoor to Kollur temple.

Mookambika temple is located at the bottom of the Kodachadri Mountain. It is to believe that the original position of the goddess was at the top of the peak, because of the ease of ordinary people and to visit you wokship their diety, saint Adi Shankaracharya Temple ordered the Temple of Kollur.
In my opinion, you should present during all poojas, as changes during morning and night afternnoon time to see another face of Mookambika Devi.
It is adviceble to spend a few days in Kollur to visit the temple and kodachandri Hill. Several jeeps operate on temple grounds kodachadri Hills at any hour. It’s a really AdvenTours trip to kodachadri peak, one with heart problems should avoid the trip. There is of course a religeous travel, but do not forget your camera, you can capture life images. Kodachadri is an adventurous accommodation for people interested in trekking. Grateful to ITP.
